Machine Knitting

My Bond Incredible Sweater Machine® is in my opinion a vast improvement on the one I had in the '70's that would only knit fine yarn. My machine has it's own custom built "mini table" so I don't have to keep taking it apart and it fits into a Christmas decoration storage box with sliding trays that hold all the accessories, then it all slides easily under the bed.

I now have a Brother KX350 Home Knitter Mid-Gauge machine.  It is no longer being manufactured but parts still seem to be available. It has a plastic bed and carriage, the needles are 7mm apart rather than the 6.5mm of true mid-gauges.  The advantage for me is the ability to produce finer tensions without loosing to ability to use my favorite worsted weight yarns.

I found a manual to download from this URL ftp://ftp.brother.ca/ENGLISH/KNITTINGMACHINE/

Basic User Information has been a little harder to find however I found valuable information and links at the Knittingmachines group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Knittingmachines/

There is no mention of a "Sponge Bar" in the manual but Cathie Sanders has detailed information on her site http://www.northtipton.com/ I had some Flexi-Foam that I have used a double layer of and so far it is working fine.  Together with lots of other useful information.

Daisyknits http://www.daisyknits.com/bmkbasics.htm has some useful basic information.

Knitfits has a great tip for setting the upper tension http://knitfits.theotherbell.com/settingtension.htm aswell as other useful information.
